Each Easter we work with The Ark Bus and the New Room to co-produce a free trail around Bristol Shopping Quarter for children to explore with their families. It features a different creature and theme each year, last year was the turn of the Calmer Llamas, and this year we were set to welcome the Roaming Rhinos to Broadmead, The Galleries, The Arcade and Cabot Circus.
Due to COVID-19, we have had to postpone the Roaming Rhino trail, but the team at The Ark Bus have come up with some alternative activities that children and young people can enjoy while they stay at home.
My Beautiful World
Firstly, they are inviting children and young people to take photos of their beautiful world. This can be a snap of anything that they find beautiful or intriguing in their world – photos can be taken on their phone or camera and emailed to The Ark Bus.
PLEASE NOTE, PHOTOS SHOULD BE TAKEN AROUND YOUR HOME OR GARDEN OR PERHAPS WHEN OUT FOR YOUR DAILY EXERCISE – IT IS VERY IMPORTANT YOU CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE GOVERNMENT’S INSTRUCTIONS – STAY AT HOME, PROTECT THE NHS, SAVE LIVES.
The Ark Bus team will print and mount all the photos and later in the year they will form part of an interactive display they are planning to put together in the New Room during the rearranged Rhino Trail.
Jenny Bourne from The Ark Bus says: “We hope that this will produce a poignant display of beautiful and meaningful photos taken during a tremendously challenging time. We would love to know what makes the photo beautiful to each person, so please write a short sentence about how it makes you feel.
“We shall also be uploading some photos onto our facebook and Instagram pages throughout the months.
“We are working on securing some prizes for the most striking, creative or unusual photos – it is early days and we have just thought of some ideas, we shall post more information on Facebook later.”
Please email all photos to: email@example.com
Create a Space – The Challenge
Imagine a new challenge each day! Well that is what The Ark Bus are aiming to provide for you. Each day they will upload a new challenge to their Facebook page and Instagram grid and they aim to keep going for as long as is necessary!
Jenny says: “Our hope is that when you are taking part in these challenges it is possible for you to remember there are other people doing these things, and although we cannot be together, we can be sharing an experience. We hope they will also raise a smile too 😊”
