Bristol Clean Air Zone
The Government set legal limits for pollution and a Clean Air Zone has been introduced to ensure Bristol meets those limits within the shortest possible time. Bristol’s zone has started on 28 November 2022.
The zone will help:
- improve air quality by reducing harmful levels of air pollution caused by traffic
- make sure everyone benefits from a healthy and natural environment
View the map of the zone on the Council’s website.
Bristol’s Clean Air Zone charges and vehicle checker
Check if your vehicle will be charged and how much you’ll have to pay bristol.gov.uk/residents/streets-travel/bristols-caz/charges-and-vehicle-checker.
Over 71% of vehicles travelling into Bristol already meet the zone’s emission standards. Only older and more polluting vehicles will be charged.
As a guide, charges will not apply to:
- Euro 4, 5 and 6 petrol vehicles, roughly 2006 upwards
- Euro 6 diesel vehicles, roughly end of 2015 onwards
- fully electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles
- modified or retrofitted vehicles registered with the Energy Saving Trust’s Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS)
- motorbikes
