The Bridges Challenge

The Bridges Challenge offers six self-guided routes for you to walk, wheel and run across while discovering the 45 causes and 1000 year-old history of the 45 bridges supporting them.

Help grow Bristol’s reputation for inspiring generoCITY by donating £1 (or more) per person per bridge that you cross. While many causes are hidden due to lack of funds and marketing means, on 9 October you’ll find 45 of their names adorning Bristol’s 45 bridges. For example, local project, My Future, My Choice will be associated with a well-known bridge in Clifton and your support will help them to keep inspiring young people with opportunities to meet role models doing different jobs in business, industry or community.

Organised by Quartet Community Foundation, sponsored by independent UK law firm Burges Salmon and PwC, and supported by local author, Jeff Lucas and publisher Bristol Books, Bristol Giving Day will directly benefit 45 hardworking local causes.

Quartet Community Foundation is encouraging the healthiest kind of competition. The aim is to get as many businesses involved as possible, together with their suppliers and clients. Every person who completes a route is awarded a certificate to acknowledge their achievement.

This year’s event has been inspired by the Bristol Bridges Walk, which in total is a 45km walk that takes you across all of Bristol’s 45 Bridges that span its main waterways. Jeff Lucas’ new book ‘From Brycgstow to Bristol in 45 Bridges’ has just been published and is available now.
