Buy Cards for Good Causes at The New Room

Cards for Good Causes

The popular Cards for Good Causes pop-up shop returns to the New Room in Bristol Shopping Quarter from Tuesday 5 November until Monday 16 December.

Cards for Good Causes

Cards for Good Causes is the UK’s largest multi-charity Christmas card organisation.

Buying your charity Christmas cards from them means you can choose from a wide range of designs and support more than one charity this Christmas. In fact, you’ll be able to choose designs from almost 50 charities.

Cards for Good Causes sold more than £4 million worth of Christmas cards in 2018, passing back at least 74p of every pound to its 250+ partner charities.

Opening times

The shop will be open Monday to Saturday, 10.30am to 3.30pm.

The New Room

You’ll find the New Room at 36 The Horsefair and it can also be accessed from Broadmead. Originally built in 1793, it’s the oldest Methodist Chapel in the world and the cradle of the early Methodist movement.

It was built and used by John Wesley and the early Methodists as a meeting and preaching place and the centre for helping and educating the needy members of the community.

The chapel itself is on the ground floor. On the top floor of the building, above the chapel, are the Preachers’ Rooms. This is where a brand new interactive museum is located. It tells the story of John and Charles Wesley and their life and work in Bristol.

The New Room is open from Monday to Saturday 10.30am to 4pm all year round. Entry to the chapel is free although charges apply for museum entry. Donations towards the work of the chapel are always welcome.

In addition to the museum, the new visitor centre features a lovely café that sells homemade cakes, hot and cold lunches, afternoon tea and Fairtrade drinks at reasonable prices. And there’s a shop, which stocks a range of items relating to John & Charles Wesley, the New Room and Methodism. The cafe and shop are open the same hours as the museum.
