Two years of the Love Bristol Gift Card
June marks two years since the introduction of the Love Bristol Gift Card, which can now be used in more than 180 venues across the city for shoppers to make the most of the diverse offerings of Bristol. Initially implemented to support local businesses, the gift card promotes a circular economy – with money from the gift card redeemed in and therefore kept in, the city.
Since the launch in 2022, Love Bristol Gift Card sales total £111,260 (as of May 2024). Latest reports from Miconex, who manage the programme, show that sales of the gift cards are continuing to rise, with sales and redemptions between February and April increasing from £14,709 to £20,392, a rise of almost 40%.
Introduced by the three central Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), the Love Bristol Gift Card can be spent with 180 businesses in the city, including shops, restaurants, theatres and music venues, offering residents and tourists an easy way to support local retailers. Love Bristol Gift Cards can be purchased online, with a minimum value of £5 and a maximum value of £500.
Now gifting local is even easier as the Love Bristol Gift Card has been added as a purchase option on group collecting platform GiftRound, which allows gift givers to easily collect from a group of friends, family or colleagues to contribute money towards a Love Bristol Gift Card. The gift card is the perfect choice for leaving gifts, new babies, weddings and the end of the school year. Get yours now!
Steve Bluff, Head of Redcliffe & Temple BID, said: “The implementation of the Love Bristol Gift Card on GiftRound is a really great way to further the opportunities for people to buy the gift cards for special occasions, and we hope to see already fantastic sales numbers increase ever further to help us support our local venues this summer.”
