The Creators Market Bristol is coming to much-loved DIY arts space Strange Brew on Fairfax Street in Bristol Shopping Quarter. Running on the first Saturday each month from 2 October, the event has been created to support the city’s unique and talented makers working across a huge variety of mediums, from jewellery and art to skincare and ceramics, records, fashion and much more.
The Market is being organised by three Bristol friends and makers, Lucy Warwick and Sheerin and Zohreh Adle-Ghadjar, who wanted to create an event with the vibrancy and individuality Bristol is famed for, in the venue that best reflects the creative community. Since opening in 2020, city-centre spot Strange Brew has become the beating heart of Bristol’s arts scene, hosting cutting edge music and performances as well as arts installations.
Alongside the extensive number of stalls, Strange Brew’s bar and café will be running all day, offering a delicious range of lunch options and drinks. To add to the atmosphere, DJs Tashaboo, BMO and MTF will be presenting Neutral Face, a retail-ready soundtrack gliding between lovingly selected vinyl digs and a curious undercurrent of retro muzak.
“We’ve lived in Bristol for a long time and we love the unique, creative energy of the city,” says Lucy, who will also be selling her handcrafted jewellery at the market. “It felt like a great time to bring together some of the most exciting makers in the city in one of the best venues we have, and create an atmosphere that reflects the diverse and imaginative Bristol we know and love. It can be challenging being a maker and reaching people who want to buy your work, so community-minded events like this make all the difference.
“We can’t wait to get everyone together at Strange Brew and have an amazing day celebrating everyone’s talents, eating some good food and enjoying some great music. Come and say hi, buy something special and have fun!”
The Creators Market Bristol is free to attend and will open its doors on Saturday 2 October 2021, 12pm-5pm, at Strange Brew, Fairfax Street.
It will return on 6 November, 4 December and 18 December.
