Donate to Superdrug’s Beauty Banks donation bin

Superdrug are proud partners of Beauty Banks, the people-powered, grassroots movement empowered by the belief that being clean is a basic human right. The ultimate goal is to make ‘hygiene poverty’ history in the UK. Beauty Banks supports people living in poverty by providing personal care products and hygiene essentials to those who can’t afford to be clean.

This movement is about dignity, self-confidence and mental well-being, but it’s also about change – Beauty Banks support those in need while lobbying the UK government. Together, Superdrug and Beauty Banks are delivering Beauty with Purpose.

Bristol-based socio-aesthetician Natacha Sullivan founded ‘The Beauty of Caring‘, a CIC aiming to help vulnerable people through beauty therapy to regain dignity, self esteem and humanity. Beauty Banks regularly donates beauty products to be passed on to her clients. She says:
I have been trained and qualified since 2012 in Socio Aesthetic which is well-known, and recognised in my home country of France. I have worked with different beneficiaries such the homeless, people with cancer and Alzheimer’s, vulnerable men/women with mental health problem, drug/alcohol addiction, abuse and trauma, etc. As well as teenagers who have had significant problems.
Socio-aesthetic is above all a therapeutic approach to help them feel better emotionally, physically. My one-to-one sessions and workshops aim to encourage the person to regain self-confidence, to feel less isolated and above all to regain their dignity and humanity.

The beauty products help me to build a bridge with the person to start a conversation
.

Beauty Bank donations are very important as I am a small CIC and don’t have sufficient funding to buy all the products my beneficiaries need like shampoo, shower gel, hand cleanser, body milk, deodorant, toothpaste, etc for their everyday life.

When I do my sessions, we sometimes speak deeply about a personal situation and also at the same time I may ask f they need a beauty products which they are then able to choose. Having big brands on the donation box gives them access to products they will never be able to afford, this helps them valued and equal. For me it’s another way to tailor the session with each individual man or women and I am happy they can continue self-care at home with the products. Having these it’s also a gentle way to remind themselves on how hygiene is important to keep your mind at peace.
