Emma Willis designs beautiful basics – and more – for Next
Emma Willis, presenter of Big Brother and The Voice, is often complimented on her chic style. From sharp trouser suits to beautifully tailored dresses, her classy outfits are frequently noted on and off the screen – and now, in the absence of Big Brother kicking off her year, she’s embraced the world of fashion like never before by designing her debut clothing range for Next, whose Cabot Circus store can be found on Brigstowe Street.
Emma shares her thoughts on the new string to her bow…meanwhile, we pick out our favourite pieces from the collection, which is created for the Spring/Summer 2019 season. The mixture of light tailoring, flattering swimwear and loose beach dresses means the range really does include everything you need for your summer getaway wardrobe!
Emma’s experience of the new challenge
“Designing clothes? I never thought I would ever do anything like that!”
The Emma Willis Collection, designed with and for Next, has just launched online and in selected stores. It sounds so simple when you put it like that – but “fashion designer” wasn’t something Emma had foreseen in her life, or even had much experience in.
Emma has always loved trying new things; she likes to be scared but “in a good way”. Being part of the design team (along with her stylist and the team at Next) meant that she could bring her own concepts to the table.
A really important element for Emma was designing clothes that women of all ages and body types will love – there is something for everyone, whether you like to bare your legs and flaunt your waist or if you prefer a looser fit.
“I’m hoping that everybody can and will wear the range. It’s quite classic in the way it looks”
Our favourites: beautiful basics and stylish classics
This gorgeous capsule collection is made up of more than 30 separate pieces. Lots of them work really well together, and separately are each designed to become a firm fixture in your wardrobe – not “fast fashion”, but comfortable and timeless classics which will always look fabulous.
“You can mix and match most of it and choose between wearing each piece as a set or an individual item,” explains Emma.
These beautiful wide-cut trousers are right on trend for 2019, but with a high waist and straight leg they’ll look great for years wherever you wear them – from the office to the dance floor! Wear with a simple white camisole, or dress up with a jacket and heels.
The stand-out feature of many pieces is a stunning deep blue and palm print. We love this bikini with its high-waisted briefs (regular tie-side briefs are also available) – mix and match with the black bikini, and for the full look team it up with the shirt for the poolside.
