Zero waste to landfill

Not only was McDonald’s in Broadmead one of the first McDonald’s restaurants to have switched to paper straws, it has also achieved its target of zero waste to landfill as all their waste goes to waste-to-energy power plants (which reduces CO2 and the use of fossil fuels) if it cannot be recycled in other ways. Their entire fleet of delivery vehicles runs solely on biodiesel produced from their cooking oil (the equivalent CO2 emissions reduction as removing 3,000 family cars from the roads per year). And the grease waste is used to power the generators which refine the used cooking oil in the biodiesel process.
