A French girl in town: M&S Broadmead Beauty

Despite her distinctly Scottish surname, Broadmead BID’s Sophie McLaughlin is actually French. She’s lived in Bristol for 14 years but is still making new discoveries. Recently, it was the beauty hall at M&S in Broadmead and it’s fair to say it was love at first sight. This is her blog:

Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who will be the fairest, most pampered and relaxed of all?

Beauty lovers, if you haven’t done so already, I would urge you to visit the beauty counter at M&S Broadmead.  Located near the restaurant on the 1st floor, I stumbled upon it quite by accident.

After watching a make-up tutorial with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (that’s the lovely Rosie with the fabulous pout!), I was eager to sample the Rosie for Autograph’s product range at M&S.  I wanted to try some of that pout myself… Monday morning before work or not!

So there I was, at the M&S beauty counter when suddenly, I realised I had in fact fallen into a wonderworld, surrounded by lovely products and brands I never knew could be found in the heart of Broadmead!

‘This felt like an authentic French pharmacy shop!’

Hand balms from La Maison De Senteurs, gorgeous smelling soaps from Roger & Gallet, iconic Nuxe oils, colourful eyeshadows from Bourjois, and beautiful scent diffusers from legendary French perfumery Fragonard!

This felt like an authentic French pharmacy shop! But somehow even better…

Natural and certified organic lotions by Dr. Hauschka, masks and detox kits from Skyn Iceland, night-time facials by REN, make-up from Eyeko, Stila, Pixi… and this is just to name but a few. The choice is impressive!

For hair, you’ll find award-winning Percy & Reed shampoos with their funky packaging and Elasticiser, a treatment mask originally created for Audrey Hepburn by celebrity ‘hair doctor’ Philip Kinsley.

You’ll also find pampering tools, including expert manicure and pedicure sets, and enticing soft bath cushions. I could just do with one of these right now (dream dream)!

There is a small selection for men too; the Dermot O’Leary Vetiver & Cedarwood eau de toilette smells divine!

‘A fantastic choice of brands combined with quality, effective skin and body care products without the price tag’

Another bonus: the department isn’t overwhelming and feels more like a boutique.

So, brimming with a fantastic choice of brands combined with quality, effective skin and body care products without the price tag – the M&S Broadmead beauty counter will surely become one of your favourite destinations when you want indulge!
